Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon launches Gen14 Aura edition, extending line from Gen6

Lenovo's flagship ThinkPad X1 Carbon has been updated with the Gen14 Aura edition. The new model uses a Panther Lake Intel Core Ultra 7 355 processor, a two‑sided motherboard “space frame” that makes the keyboard, battery and ports more easily replaceable, and adds a 49‑TOPS neural processing unit. It measures 12.30 × 8.49 × 0.36‑0.69 inches, weighs 2.14 lb (2.64 lb with the lighter 65 W charger) and offers HDMI, two 40 Gbps USB‑C/Thunderbolt ports, a USB‑A port, an audio jack and a power button on the keyboard. Benchmarks show it outperforms the previous Lunar Lake‑based X1 Carbon while trailing the newer Ultra 5 325 in some graphics tests.

Earlier reviews noted the Gen6 X1 Carbon, bought for about US$350, featured a 16 GB RAM configuration and a 2560 × 1440 display that improved readability over the older Full HD panel. The reviewer highlighted the laptop’s reliable battery life, dual USB‑C ports (one sometimes obscured by a rubber stopper), and the practicality of its serviceable design, which influenced the newer Gen14’s modular improvements.
