Lenovo unveils fanless Project AeroBlade laptop concept

Lenovo has unveiled Project AeroBlade, a concept 14-inch laptop designed to replace traditional cooling fans with solid-state technology. Showcased at IFA 2026, the prototype utilizes Frore Systems’ AirJet technology, which employs rapidly vibrating piezoelectric membranes to move air through the device.

By using this “Active Flow” system instead of spinning fans, the laptop achieves an ultra-thin profile of under 10mm and a weight of approximately 830g. The design eliminates the need for bottom intake vents, which may reduce dust accumulation and allow for more versatile use on soft surfaces like laps or sofas. The system is intended to provide active cooling—supporting roughly 20W of thermal dissipation—without the noise or bulk associated with conventional fans.

The prototype is built on an Intel Lunar Lake platform and features an OLED display, Thunderbolt 4, and Wi-Fi 7. While the technology offers a potential middle ground between passive cooling and traditional fan-based systems, Lenovo has not yet announced a retail price or official release date.
