Leo Express suspends Frankfurt to Poland rail link

Czech rail operator Leo Express is suspending its long-distance connection linking Frankfurt, Germany, to Prague and eastern Poland after only a few months of operation. The service, which began in late June, is scheduled to cease operations on October 5.

The company cited extensive construction work and frequent track closures within the German rail network as the primary reason for the decision. Leo Express stated that these disruptions significantly impact schedule stability, making it impossible to maintain long-term operations amidst daily changes to timetables and frequent diversions.

The ambitious 1,300-kilometer route connected major cities including Frankfurt, Erfurt, Prague, Kraków, and Przemyśl. Despite the suspension, the company noted that passenger demand remained high. Leo Express is currently in negotiations with Deutsche Bahn regarding future connections, and customers with existing tickets will be contacted for compensation.
