Leo Komarov remains free agent, future plans pending

Veteran Finnish forward Leo Komarov, 39, told Iltalehti he has no contract for the upcoming season and is not yet ready to decide on his playing future. He said he has kept up his training and remains in shape to continue playing, adding that interest from clubs still exists. Komarov recently joined Swiss club HC Davos for the Spengler Cup, helping the team win the tournament, before signing a short‑term deal with Finland’s Kiekko‑Espoo, where he appeared in 17 regular‑season games (1 goal, 6 assists) and four playoff matches (1 goal). Over his long career he has played in the NHL, KHL, SHL and represented the Finnish national team, winning Olympic gold, a world championship and a KHL title. He also praised former coach Mike Babcock, now head coach of the Edmonton Oilers, describing him as a legendary figure.

Komarov said a decision on his next move will be announced when the right opportunity arises, emphasizing that the timing of any announcement is still uncertain.
