Leo Messi expands football ownership with CD Eldense investment

Leo Messi is expanding his business footprint in Spanish football through the acquisition of CD Eldense. Following his purchase of 100% of the shares of TH Soluciones Group, Messi is set to become a part-owner of the LaLiga Hypermotion club, pending authorization from the Higher Sports Council (CSD). This follows his earlier acquisition of UE Cornellà.

The influence of Messi’s investment is already being felt at CD Eldense with the appointment of Javi Calleja as the new head coach. Calleja, who signed a contract through June 2028, noted that Messi’s involvement was “fundamental and key” to his decision to accept the proposal, describing the star's presence as a “guarantee” for the club's growth.

This trend of high-profile athletes investing in football clubs mirrors previous moves by figures such as Gerard Piqué with FC Andorra, as well as Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior, who hold interests in clubs like SM Caen and Alverca respectively.
