Leo Messi linked to Newell’s Old Boys amid national team retirement

Leo Messi is facing potential discussions regarding a future transfer to the Argentine club Newell’s Old Boys. Ignacio Boero, the president of Newell’s Old Boys, noted that while there has been talk of the player joining the Rosario-based team, recent personal difficulties following the death of Messi's father make it an inappropriate time to apply pressure. Boero stated, “It is about respect.”

In addition to club transfer rumors, Messi has announced his retirement from the Argentina national team. He is expected to play his final matches for the “Albiceleste” in upcoming friendlies against Bolivia, Burkina Faso, and Benin. Currently, the 39-year-old forward continues to compete for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer.
