Leo Walta joins Los Angeles FC on loan from Swansea City
Midfielder Leo Walta has joined Los Angeles FC on loan from English Championship club Swansea City. The deal runs through the remainder of 2026 and includes an option to make the transfer permanent, pending the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate and P-1 Visa.
Walta, a 23-year-old Finnish international, has seen limited playing time at Swansea, recording only six minutes of league action in the first three matches of the season. Before moving to England, he enjoyed a breakout period in the Swedish Allsvenskan with IK Sirius, where he set a club record by scoring 16 goals in the 2025 season.
At LAFC, Walta will join a squad that includes former Tottenham players such as Hugo Lloris and Son Heung-min. LAFC President of Soccer Operations John Thorrington praised Walta’s creativity, technical ability, and versatility, noting his potential to become an important piece of the team during their pursuit of trophies.
