Leo Wong invited to return to Homo Faber Biennial 2026

Hong Kong ceramic artist Leo Wong has been invited to participate in the fourth edition of the Homo Faber Biennial 2026 in Venice, Italy. This marks his second consecutive appearance at the international celebration of contemporary craftsmanship, following his role as Hong Kong’s sole representative artist in 2024.

Wong will present a new white-porcelain sculpture titled ‘Peony Rêverie’ in response to the biennial’s theme, ‘An Island of Light’. The artwork utilizes highly translucent clay to explore the relationship between porcelain, light, and shadow, aiming to provide a contemporary expression of Asian ceramic aesthetics through its delicate, petal-by-petal construction.

The event, curated by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship, will take place from September 1 to 30, 2026, at the Fondazione Giorgio Cini on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore. Wong will join over 500 master artisans from more than 70 countries.
