Leo Woodall joins Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum cast
Actor Leo Woodall, 29, confirmed he will appear as Halvard – a new Dúnedain character – in the upcoming film *Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum*. The movie, slated for release on 17 December 2027, was announced by Warner Bros. at CinemaCon in April and fills the narrative gap between *The Hobbit* and *The Fellowship of the Ring*. Woodall told Radio Times the role fulfills a “boyhood dream”, adding, “I can’t believe how lucky I am.”
The all‑star cast also includes Jamie Dornan as a young Aragorn (Strider), Kate Winslet as the original character Marigol, and returning franchise veterans Andy Serkis as Gollum, Elijah Wood as Frodo, and Ian McKellen as Gandalf. The story follows Aragorn’s quest to capture Gollum before the creature can reveal the One Ring’s location to Sauron, drawing on notes left by J.R.R. Tolkien.
