Leon completes major urban renovation and accessibility projects

Urban renovation projects in Leon have reached key milestones. The first phase of works on Calle Ancha, spanning from Plaza de Santo Domingo to the Palacio de los Guzmanes, has been delivered. This phase aims to provide partial relief to traffic and economic activity in the city center following seven months of demolition and construction. Despite delays caused by paving errors in late July, the official completion date remains set for mid-October.

Simultaneously, the rehabilitation of the Monte María Cristina and Rastro Alto neighborhoods has concluded. This project, which lasted over seven months with a budget exceeding one million euros, focused on improving sanitation, drainage, and accessibility. Key improvements include the installation of new service networks and the transformation of streets into single-level platforms to assist elderly residents and those with reduced mobility. The works also included landscaping and the renewal of urban furniture to better integrate these neighborhoods with the city center.
