Leon Madsen wins Speedway Euro Championship in Zielona Góra
Danish rider Leon Madsen claimed victory in the inaugural round of the 2026 Speedway Euro Championship (SEC) held in Zielona Góra on 18 July, scoring 14 points to top the final standings. Patryk Dudek of Poland secured third place on the podium, while fellow Dane Michael Jepsen Jensen finished fourth after a strong showing in the earlier heats.
Madsen praised the track preparation, calling it the best of the season, and highlighted the competitive field that included several other top riders from Denmark, Poland and beyond. The event marked the start of a nine‑round series that will determine the individual European champion, with the next rounds scheduled in Güstrow, Rzeszów and Pardubice.
Polish participants also performed well, with Dudek matching Madsen's 14 points in the overall classification and remaining a key contender for the title. The race featured challenging conditions and close battles among the leading riders, underscoring the high level of competition in European speedway.
