Leonard Morpurgo, veteran Hollywood publicist, dies at 93
Leonard Morpurgo, a veteran international film publicist and communications executive, has died at the age of 93. He passed away on August 12 in Los Angeles following a battle with cancer.
Born in London, Morpurgo held senior leadership roles at several major studios and agencies, including Universal Studios, Columbia Pictures, Rogers & Cowan, CBS Theatrical Films, and Lorimar Pictures. He also served as a vice president at Weissman/Markovitz Communications.
Throughout his career, Morpurgo worked closely with prominent figures in the entertainment industry. His professional experiences were documented in his 2009 memoir, ‘Of Kings and Queens and Movie Stars’, which detailed his encounters with icons such as Cary Grant, Steve McQueen, and Omar Sharif. He was a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the International Cinematographers Guild, for which he received a nomination for the Les Mason Award for Achievement in Publicity in 2022.
