Leonardo Aguilar releases Esquina 22 album
Mexican singer Leonardo Aguilar has released his fourth solo studio album, titled Esquina 22, through Machin Records and Virgin Music Latino. The 10-track project includes original songs and renditions of classic ranchera tracks, such as “Las Rejas No Matan” and “Acepto Mi Derrota.” The album title refers to an emblematic street in Tayahua, Zacatecas, where the Aguilar family ranch is located.
To celebrate the launch, Aguilar held a live broadcast from a street in Zacatecas, joined by fellow artist Christian Nodal. Nodal, who refers to Aguilar as his brother-in-law, co-wrote the track “A Quién Voy a Culpar” for the album. During the event, the two artists performed several songs together.
Aguilar, the son of Pepe Aguilar, addressed recent social media criticism and scrutiny regarding his family name. He stated that while negative comments previously caused him to pause his career, he now aims to be recognized for his own vocal talent and musicality rather than his family dynasty. He also noted his recent appointment as an ambassador for the third World Congress of Mariachi.
