Leonardo Avalanche Wins PRTB Nomination for 2026 Presidential Election
Leonardo Avalanche, president of the Partido Renovador Trabalhista Brasileiro (PRTB), was officially confirmed as the party’s candidate for Brazil’s 2026 presidential election during a national convention in Goiânia on 29 April. Avalanche, an analyst‑systems professional and lawyer from Anápolis, Goiás, presented a platform that includes a 3.5% single tax, reduced levies for ride‑hailing drivers, changes to the IPVA vehicle tax, and an hourly‑work model. He also emphasized strengthening agribusiness, reindustrialising the country, and boosting national production.
The party has not yet announced a vice‑presidential running mate. This is the first time since 2014 that the PRTB is fielding its own presidential candidate, having previously supported Levy Fidelix. Avalanche’s nomination follows a series of conventions by other parties ahead of the election. Earlier in the year, the São Paulo Public Ministry filed a complaint against him related to internal party disputes, which the judiciary accepted.
