Leonardo Bernal debuts with St. Louis Cardinals against Dodgers

Panamanian catcher Leonardo Bernal made his Major League Baseball debut with the St. Louis Cardinals during a series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Bernal, who was called up from Triple-A Memphis, started the game behind the plate and recorded his first career hit in the third inning, which drove in teammates Iván Herrera and Jordan Walker.

Bernal becomes the 73rd Panamanian player to reach the Major Leagues and the sixth player from the Coclé province to do so. He shared the lineup with fellow countryman Iván Herrera, who appeared as the designated hitter. The matchup highlights the historical contrast between the Dodgers' high-profile offensive identity and the Cardinals' long-standing baseball tradition.
