Leonardo Del Vecchio and Theodore Kyriakou lead media acquisitions in Italy's publishing overhaul
The July‑August issue of Prima Comunicazione describes a turbulent Italian media sector where declining advertising, sales and audience figures are prompting a wave of investments and restructurings. Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio has bought QN Media and installed Mario Orfeo as editorial director to revive the group. Greek entrepreneur Theodore Kyriakou has similarly invested in GEDI, launching a deep reorganisation that includes rescuing the newspaper La Repubblica, expanding digital, video and event activities, and creating new synergies with Antenna.
Pier Silvio Berlusconi, focusing on the international growth of MFE, is steering Mediaset toward national market dominance while preparing a European platform to compete with major US tech operators. The issue also notes editorial changes in Torino, where new editor Alberto Leonardis and director Antonio Di Rosa have restored confidence at La Stampa, and in Genova, where Blue Media is tasked with building a genuine editorial strategy after ending a long‑running partnership between Michele Brambilla and publisher Pier Francesco Vago.
