Italian shot‑putter Leonardo Fabbri won the men's competition at the Diamond League meeting in Eugene, Oregon, with a throw of 22.74 m. The mark is the best performance worldwide for the 2024 season, moving him to the top of the World Athletics rankings and surpassing American Joe Kovacs, who had led with 22.58 m earlier in the year.

Fabbri achieved the distance on his first attempt and maintained his advantage throughout the contest, with Jamaica’s Rajindra Campbell (22.44 m), USA’s Jordan Geist (22.24 m) and Roger Steen (22.07 m) completing the podium. The result positions Fabbri as a leading contender for the upcoming European Championships in Birmingham.
