Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio resigns from EssilorLuxottica roles
Leonardo Maria Del Vecchio has announced his resignation from all managerial roles at EssilorLuxottica, including his positions as chairman of Ray-Ban and Chief Strategy Officer. The resignations are set to take effect on August 31.
In a letter addressed to CEO Francesco Milleri and the board, Del Vecchio criticized the current corporate management, describing it as 'distant' and 'impersonal.' He expressed that the sense of belonging and enthusiasm within the company has diminished compared to the culture established by his father, the company's founder, twenty years ago. He emphasized that people must return to the center of the group.
Despite stepping down from operational leadership, Del Vecchio will remain a shareholder through the family holding company, Delfin, which holds a significant stake in EssilorLuxottica. He noted that his three-year mandate at Ray-Ban concluded after exceeding established targets, leaving the brand stronger and with ongoing projects.
