Leonardo Wakonig named Austria's National Civilian Service of the Year

Leonardo Wakonig has been named the 2026 National Civilian Service of the Year in Austria. Performing his service with the Johanniter in Vienna, Wakonig was recognized for his extraordinary commitment, including an instance where he responded to a cardiac arrest emergency via a life-saver app while off-duty.

Johannes Hinterholzer was named the state winner for Lower Austria. While serving at the Caritas Werkstatt Zwettl, Hinterholzer was noted for his technical skills and his ability to assist clients with digital literacy. He also developed a digital solution to streamline food ordering processes within the facility.
