Leonel Fernández inaugurates Casa de Convergencia Ciudadana in Santo Domingo

Former president and Fuerza del Pueblo leader Leonel Fernández led the inauguration of the Casa de Convergencia Ciudadana on Friday in the Gazcue district of Santo Domingo (Calle Lea de Castro No. 153). The new facility will serve as a permanent space for dialogue, planning and coordination among more than a dozen social, community, professional and citizen movements that back Fernández’s political platform.

In his speech Fernández said the growth of the Fuerza del Pueblo stems from its ability to “interpret the aspirations of the Dominican people.” Secretary general Elena Mejía introduced the first 17 movements, including Caminemos con Leonel, Ven Conmigo, República Fuerte and others, while platform president Manolo Pichardo emphasized that the initiative aims to reach citizens who support Fernández’s leadership without joining a traditional party. The ceremony was attended by political leaders, business figures and community representatives.

The Casa de Convergencia Ciudadana is presented as a means to strengthen citizen participation and expand the reach of Fernández’s project ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
