Leonel Jaime to remain at Peñarol until 2027

Leonel Jaime will remain on loan at Peñarol until June 2027, according to recent developments regarding his transfer from River Plate. The 20-year-old player has triggered a clause in his loan agreement that prevents River Plate from exercising a buy-back option at the end of this year.

The original agreement included a condition that River Plate could only recall Jaime if he played fewer than 360 minutes. Following his recent performance in a match against Central Español, where he scored a goal and provided an assist, Jaime has surpassed this threshold, accumulating 369 minutes across five appearances.

While Peñarol has confirmed his continuity with the hashtag “Jaime2027”, the Uruguayan club does not hold an option to purchase the player permanently. River Plate retains ownership of the athlete and must wait until the conclusion of his loan in mid-2027 to reintegrate him into their squad.
