Leon's Furniture and Lassonde Industries report Q2 earnings

Leon's Furniture and Lassonde Industries reported second-quarter financial results reflecting shifts in consumer behavior and macroeconomic pressures.

Leon's Furniture saw revenue decline by 2% to C$631.2 million. CEO Mike Walsh noted that while customers continue to shop, they are increasingly focused on value and lower opening price points. While furniture and appliance sales saw declines, mattress sales grew for the second consecutive quarter. Digital platform engagement and online sales both increased during the period.

Lassonde Industries reported second-quarter sales of CAD 738 million, a slight decrease from CAD 742 million the previous year. Despite the decline in sales, the company's gross profit rose by 16% to CAD 228 million, driven by lower orange concentrate costs and favorable product mix. CEO Vince Timpano cited macroeconomic uncertainty and pressure on consumer demand as key backdrop factors.
