Leopoldo Luque denies culpability in Diego Maradona death trial

Neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luque, a primary defendant in the trial regarding the death of Diego Armando Maradona, testified for the eleventh time, asserting that none of the accused are culpable for the footballer's passing.

Luque maintained that Maradona’s cardiological studies appeared “normal” and denied seeing the warning signs cited by other witnesses and medical experts. He argued that the medical board's conclusions were based on the autopsy rather than real-time observations, stating, “The doctor, when attending, does not have the autopsy in hand.”

During his testimony, Luque clarified his role, stating his responsibility was limited to neurosurgical care. He also addressed discrepancies regarding Maradona’s medication, disputing claims about the withdrawal of hypertension treatment. The trial, which involves charges of simple homicide with eventual intent, is scheduled to move to the closing arguments phase on September 29.
