Lepe honors local artists and tourism leaders with 2026 awards

The municipality of Lepe held the fourth edition of the Lepe Culture Awards to recognize significant contributions to the local arts and heritage. Mayor Adolfo Verano presented the biennial honors to three distinguished individuals.

José María Rodríguez, known as José María de Lepe, received the award for Performing Arts in recognition of his career as a guitarist, composer, and teacher. Patrocinio Vélez was honored in the category of Plastic and Visual Arts for his long-standing work as a local photographer and chronicler of the town's history. Águeda Gómez, a historian and researcher, was awarded for her work in Humanities and Historical Heritage.

In a separate local recognition, the Pub Robinson was honored at the Lepe Tourism Awards 2026. The establishment received the award for Tourism Company as it celebrates its 50th anniversary, marking its role as a long-standing cultural and musical venue in the province of Huelva.
