Leros to host triathlon and road running events in September

The Gymnastikos Syllogos Neon Lerou will host two major sporting events on the island of Leros on September 26 and 27.

On Saturday, September 26, an Aquathlon Triathlon will take place at the Xerokampou municipal stadium. On Sunday, September 27, the ‘Leros Run 2026’ will be held in the Agia Marina area, featuring road races at distances of 1,200, 3,000, 5,000, and 10,000 meters.

The races are dedicated to prominent local athletic figures: the 5,000 and 10,000-meter races honor Giannis Virvili, a renowned Leros track athlete, while the 3,000-meter races for the K14 and K16 age categories are dedicated to the late physics teacher and coach Miltiadis Papantonakis.
