Les Borges Blanques launches door‑to‑door selective waste collection to boost recycling

The municipal government of Les Borges Blanques began a new door‑to‑door selective waste collection system on the evening of June 7. Residents are instructed to leave organic waste in a compostable bag and packaging waste in a plastic bag at the curb between 20:00 and 22:00. The scheme also accepts diapers, sanitary pads and animal waste, which must be placed in a plastic bag inside a yellow‑stickered bin.

Mayor Josep Farran said the town’s current recycling rate is about 40% and the new system aims to raise it to at least 65%, with a target of 70% in line with EU recycling directives for 2030.
