Les Chapeaux Rouges sues Côte d'Ivoire over Canal+ dispute
The citizen movement ‘Les Chapeaux Rouges’ has officially filed a lawsuit with the Conseil d’État against the State of Côte d'Ivoire regarding a dispute with the pay-TV operator Canal+.
Following unsuccessful attempts at dialogue and formal notices, the organization, led by president Cahié Kunta, is seeking a legal ruling to clarify the broadcasting status of national channels. The central legal issue concerns whether national channels must be made available for free on commercial pay-TV packages under Ivorian regulatory frameworks. The movement stated that after exhausting amicable recourse and receiving no satisfactory response, it is now turning to the judiciary to resolve the matter.
