Les Écologistes suspend Yannick Jadot over support for Raphaël Glucksmann
The executive secretariat of the French Green party, Les Écologistes, has issued a three-month temporary suspension against Yannick Jadot. The decision was made as a precautionary measure following Jadot’s public support for Raphaël Glucksmann in the lead-up to the 2027 presidential election.
Jadot, a Paris senator, has contested the suspension, describing the party's direction as a “fatal strategy of resignation to being passive observers.” He justified his alignment with Glucksmann based on shared values regarding ecology, Europe, democracy, and the fight against racism and antisemitism, despite noting differences on nuclear energy policy.
The move highlights deep strategic divisions within the party. While Marine Tondelier currently remains the party's candidate, Les Écologistes members are scheduled to vote in December to decide whether to maintain an independent candidacy or support another figure from the left.
