Les Deux-Alpes merchant to face trial for antisemitic remarks

A restaurant manager in the Les Deux-Alpes ski resort is scheduled to stand trial in Grenoble on March 2, 2027, following a viral video involving antisemitic remarks. The manager is being prosecuted for “public discriminatory insult against an individual based on their religion.”

The incident occurred on August 14, when a video circulated on Instagram showing the manager telling Jewish customers, “The Jewish community, you are too many. At some point, it exceeds people.” During the investigation, the merchant admitted to making the statements to a customer.

Authorities noted that the investigation found no provocation from the individual filming the exchange. The French Interior Ministry previously condemned the remarks, stating that no acts of antisemitism, racism, or hate would be tolerated.
