Les Démocrates party appoints Nourénou Atchadé as leader

The Les Démocrates party held its second ordinary congress in Porto-Novo on October 10 and 11, 2026, to establish a new leadership structure and resolve internal tensions. During the meeting, Nourénou Atchadé was officially appointed to lead the party.

The congress focused on building a unified party and restoring public trust. Various political figures attended, including Garba Yaya of the Forces Cauris pour un Bénin Émergent (Fcbe), who noted the party's resilience despite previous internal turbulence. Jacques Ayadji, president of the Moele-Bénin party, also addressed the assembly, calling for national political calm and cooperation with President Romuald Wadagni.
