Les Misérables: New trailer released for Fred Cavayé film

A new trailer has been released for Fred Cavayé’s upcoming film adaptation of Victor Hugo’s classic novel, ‘Les Misérables’. Produced by StudioCanal, the film is positioned as a major French heritage blockbuster, following the success of recent historical productions like ‘The Three Musketeers’ and ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’.

The footage highlights the epic scale of the production, focusing on the 1832 June insurrection in Paris. The story follows Jean Valjean, played by Vincent Lindon, as he attempts to evade Javert, portrayed by Tahar Rahim. The ensemble cast includes Noémie Merlant as Fantine, Camille Cottin and Benjamin Lavernhe as the Thénardiers, and Megan Northam and Vassili Schneider as Cosette and Marius.

The film is scheduled to be presented in official competition at the San Sebastián Festival in September before its theatrical release on October 14, 2026.
