Lesbos Cooperative Opens New Store in Mytilene

The Agricultural, Livestock and Social Cooperative of Central Lesbos (Συνεταιρισμός Μεσοτόπου Λέσβου) opened a new retail outlet in the Alusis district of Mytilene, the capital of the island. General manager and secretary Manolis Konstantidellis said the store will stock the cooperative’s own dairy and food products as well as items from other Lesbos cooperatives, small local producers, and farms from neighboring North Aegean islands.

The initiative is presented as a response to the severe impact of the recent avian influenza outbreak on the island’s livestock sector, aiming to create a local economic hub that supports producers facing restrictions and losses. The cooperative already operates shops in Athens and Thessaloniki and offers a wide range of goods, including traditional cheeses, yogurts, frozen yoghurt, organic items, pastries, and olive oil.
