Leshaun Davis charged with attempted murder in Lower Township shooting

Leshaun Davis, 20, has been arrested and charged following a shooting incident near the Mulligan Sports Complex in the Villas section of Lower Township, New Jersey. On August 29, 2026, at approximately 10:37 p.m., police responded to reports of multiple gunshots in the area. Authorities confirmed that no individuals were struck by bullets during the incident.

Following an investigation by the Lower Township Police Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, detectives identified Davis as the suspect. On August 31, members of the Lower Township Police, the Major Crimes Unit, and the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team executed a court-authorized search warrant at Davis’s residence, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Davis faces several charges, including first-degree criminal attempt to commit murder, second-degree aggravated assault, and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is currently being held at the Cape May County Correctional Facility. Prosecutors stated there is no ongoing threat to the public.
