Lesley Stahl reportedly considered leaving CBS News ‘60 Minutes’

Lesley Stahl, the 84-year-old correspondent for CBS News’ ‘60 Minutes’, reportedly considered leaving the program following an editorial dispute regarding a segment on Israeli settlers in the West Bank.

Sources indicate that Stahl was frustrated by an unusually “hands-on” editing process led by CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss and managing editor Charles Forelle. Reports suggest that Forelle had recommended postponing the segment, but Stahl objected to a delay and insisted the piece proceed. The report, which examined violence allegedly committed by extremist settlers against Palestinians, aired this past Sunday.

While reports suggested Stahl weighed an exit, sources close to the journalist stated she “would never quit” the show. CBS News has dismissed reports of a conflict as “ludicrous,” maintaining that the segment underwent a “rigorous editorial process.”
