Bus accident on A96 near Buchloe kills two en route to Oktoberfest
Investigators have identified driver fatigue as the likely cause of a fatal bus accident on the A96 motorway in Buchloe, Bavaria. The bus, carrying 33 passengers from Milan to Munich for Oktoberfest, veered off the road and overturned early Sunday morning.
The crash resulted in the deaths of two passengers, aged 27 and 58, both of Philippine origin, and left 17 others seriously injured. The bus company, BtService, based in Pinzolo, Italy, stated that the vehicle had been inspected and showed no technical defects, confirming that the driver fell asleep at the wheel.
The Augsburg Public Prosecutor's Office has commissioned expert reports to clarify the circumstances and is investigating the driver for negligent homicide. Alcohol and drug tests performed on the 40-year-old driver returned negative results.
