Lester Martínez defends WBC interim super middleweight title

Guatemalan boxer Lester Martínez is set to defend his WBC interim super middleweight world title against Croatian challenger Luka Plantić at the USC Galen Center in Los Angeles. Both fighters successfully made weight for the bout, with Martínez weighing in at 167.2 lbs and Plantić at 167.0 lbs.

Martínez, who holds an undefeated record of 20 wins and 16 knockouts, has utilized Terence Crawford as a mentor and sparring partner during his training camp to prepare for Plantić’s power. Plantić, an undefeated fighter with Olympic experience, has expressed confidence in winning the championship and returning to Croatia with the belt.

Martínez has received significant support from Guatemalan sporting icons, including Olympic gold medalist Adriana Ruano and bronze medalist Jean Pierre Brol, ahead of this career-defining defense.
