Lesvos organizations support Archimandrite Iakovos Koutsakis for Metropolitan

Twenty-two organizations and associations from Lesvos have issued a formal letter to Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens, expressing their support for Archimandrite Iakovos Koutsakis, the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of Agios Ignatios of Leimonas, as a candidate for the position of new Metropolitan of the region.

The signatories highlight Koutsakis’s long-standing ecclesiastical service and his role in upgrading the Holy Monastery of Leimonas, describing it as a significant religious, historical, and cultural monument of Lesvos. They note that his work has enhanced the monastery's status as a place of pilgrimage, attracting visitors from Greece and the wider Greek diaspora.

In addition to his religious contributions, the organizations emphasize his service to the local community and his efforts to preserve monastic heritage. They request that his extensive experience and understanding of local needs be seriously considered during the election process for the new Metropolitan.
