Leszek Miller responds to Ukrainian activist Natalia Panczenko
Former Polish Prime Minister Leszek Miller has responded to comments made by Ukrainian activist Natalia Panczenko regarding her connection to Poland. During a demonstration in Warsaw, Panczenko, president of the Stand with Ukraine foundation, stated that she would not give up “her Poland” to those attempting to build it on fear and hatred.
Miller countered Panczenko’s remarks on social media, stating, “This will never be your Poland. My Poland lies in the fields and forests of Volhynia. Go, look for and return to us the bones of those murdered.” His response directly referenced the Polish victims of the Volhynia massacres and the ongoing unresolved issue of locating and exhuming remains.
Panczenko has previously faced controversy for suggesting that worsening Polish-Ukrainian relations could lead to civil unrest, such as arson or fighting, though she later claimed those remarks were taken out of context.
