Leszek Miller says Ukrainian leaders glorify Bandera and block Polish‑Ukrainian reconciliation

Former Polish prime minister Leszek Miller criticized the Ukrainian government on the TV programme “Prezydenci i premierzy”, calling those in power “banderowcy” and saying they protect the legacy of Stepan Bandera and other “bandits”. Miller argued that this stance prevents genuine Polish‑Ukrainian reconciliation and that only a change in Ukrainian leadership will allow the process of exhumating victims of the Volhynian massacres to proceed.

He contrasted the smooth exhumation of about 13,710 German Wehrmacht soldiers between 2014‑2022 with the limited exhumations of Polish victims, claiming Ukrainians hide evidence of Polish killings. Miller said, “Dopóki na Ukrainie rządzą banderowcy, to nic się nie zmieni” ("As long as banderowcy govern Ukraine, nothing will change") and added, “I tego Ukraińcy nie chcą pokazać światu” ("and Ukrainians do not want to show this to the world").
