Let Cuba Breathe solidarity caravan travels through French cities amid US blockade protests

Activists from the Let Cuba Breathe campaign marched a caravan from Béziers to Marseille, joining a wider European tour that has visited Turin, Brussels, Paris and Berlin. The protesters carried banners calling for an end to the U.S. embargo on Cuba and voiced support for Palestinian self‑determination, urging European governments to break their silence on what they describe as imperialist sanctions.

The campaign also sparked parallel demonstrations, including a solidarity rally on Vienna’s Mariahilferstraße organized by the Austria‑Cuba Friendship Association. In Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced plans to resume oil trade with Cuba through private firms, framing the move as a commercial exchange rather than a humanitarian gesture. Together, these actions highlight growing international opposition to the renewed U.S. restrictions on Cuba and seek to mobilise public opinion across Europe and beyond.
