Lethbridge police charge four youths after airsoft pistol scare at mall

Four teenage boys, aged 13 to 15, have been charged following a confrontation involving an airsoft pistol at Park Place Mall in Lethbridge. The incident occurred on a Friday evening after two groups of youths encountered one another at the food court.

According to investigators, a brief foot chase ensued, during which one youth produced a weapon that appeared to be a firearm. Witnesses reported hearing clicking sounds from the device, causing patrons and families to take cover under tables and structures to shield themselves and their children.

Lethbridge Police determined the weapon was an airsoft pistol rather than a real firearm. Despite the imitation nature of the weapon, police have laid several criminal charges against the youths, including use of an imitation firearm, pointing a firearm, possession of an offensive weapon, uttering threats, and mischief. A knife and a baton were also seized during the investigation.
