Mexico Senate seeks to resume interparliamentary meetings with the United States

Ignacio Mier, president of the Senate's Political Coordination Board, has announced invitations to United States legislators to resume interparliamentary meetings. These sessions, which were suspended during the pandemic, aim to address critical bilateral issues including migrant defense, security, and the negotiation of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA).

Mier noted that parliamentary diplomacy can strengthen federal foreign policy, particularly regarding consular services for Mexicans in the U.S. He recalled a successful 2025 mission where Mexican senators met with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus to advocate for reducing proposed taxes on remittances.
