Leukemia research advances discussed at Madrid medical conference

Medical experts from Spain, Europe, and Latin America have convened in Madrid for the XV Acute Leukemia Conference to discuss advancements in the diagnosis and treatment of hematological neoplasms. Key topics include precision medicine, CAR-T immunotherapy, myelodysplastic syndromes, and the integration of artificial intelligence in hematology to streamline literature reviews and clinical decision-making. Discussions are particularly focused on acute myeloid leukemia (AML), where new therapies are shifting the approach away from traditional intensive chemotherapy.

In parallel, the Unoentrecienmil Foundation has opened registrations for the 12th edition of ‘La Vuelta al Cole’ in Andalusia. This solidarity race involves educational centers across Spain to raise funds for childhood leukemia research. The initiative combines physical activity with educational materials on scientific research and empathy. In the previous academic year, the program raised over 1.1 million euros across Spain to support the development of more effective treatments with fewer side effects for children.
