Leutkirch Opens New Medical Centre While Lindlar Boosts Rural Doctor Training

Leutkirch inaugurated the LeuMed medical centre (a merged medical‑care centre) on 28 July, with the official opening ceremony attended by local officials including Mayor Hans‑Jörg Henle and Finance Mayor Dr Daniel Gallasch. The centre, housed in the former hospital on Ottmannshofer Straße 44, will begin operations on 3 August. Renovation costs of about €600,000 were covered by the city budget and a wide‑ranging fundraising effort involving local foundations, companies and citizens.

In Lindlar, Dr Christian Franchy invited Cologne medical students to his practice for hands‑on ultrasound training, marking the third such session. Using three high‑end sonography devices, he demonstrated techniques to encourage graduates to consider rural medical careers. The event was supported by the FAIRnetzte Gesundheit Oberberg initiative and included logistical assistance such as a sponsored bus for the students.
