LEVC announces new London black cab for 2027 launch

LEVC has announced that its next-generation London black cab is scheduled for launch in the second half of 2027. The new battery-electric model is being engineered from the ground up to meet Transport for London’s Metropolitan Conditions of Fitness, which dictates standards for accessibility, maneuverability, and passenger safety.

The announcement coincides with the conclusion of production for the current TX model at LEVC’s Ansty manufacturing facility this month. The TX model has seen over 12,000 global sales and is credited with significantly reducing NOx emissions and CO2 levels within London’s taxi fleet.

Supported by more than £1bn in investment from Geely Group since 2013, the new vehicle will maintain the traditional upright silhouette of the black cab while incorporating modern design and sustainability improvements. Specific technical specifications, pricing, and exact production volumes have not yet been released.
