Levi ski resort to open 2026 season in early October

The Levi ski resort in Finnish Lapland is scheduled to open its 2026/2027 season on October 2, 2026. This early start is made possible through snowfarming, a technique where large quantities of snow are preserved during the cold season and reused months later to ensure reliable coverage.

Levi is recognized as Finland’s largest and most frequented ski resort, featuring approximately 44 km of slopes and 27 lifts. The resort is a significant venue for international competition, traditionally hosting a women’s Alpine Ski World Cup slalom each November, making it one of the few World Cup events held outside the Alps and the Rockies.

Located near Kittilä, the resort offers infrastructure including the Levi Centre and provides high opportunities for viewing the aurora borealis.
