Leviathan film starring Shunsuke Michieda set for 2027 release

The survival thriller film ‘Leviathan’, based on the popular manga by Shiro Kuroi, is scheduled for release on February 11, 2027. The film stars Shunsuke Michieda and Natsuki Deguchi in their first collaboration.

Set aboard a shipwrecked spacecraft, the story follows 38 students struggling to survive. As oxygen levels deplete within a 41-hour limit, the group discovers a grim reality: only one person can survive. This realization triggers a violent descent into betrayal and conflict as the characters fight for the sole remaining life-support system.

Michieda portrays Kazuma Ichinose, a character pushed to the brink of madness, while Deguchi plays Futaba Nikaido, a cold and calculating individual who manipulates others to ensure her own survival. The film is directed by Michihito Fujii and Ryohei Shingu, utilizing VFX and action sequences to depict the high-stakes death game.
