Levica accuses SDSM of manipulating economic success data

The political party Levica has accused the ruling SDSM of manipulating economic data to create a false impression of national success. According to the party, the government is selectively using specific percentages while ignoring broader economic challenges.

Levica highlights several critical issues, including a trade deficit of 1.44 billion euros over a five-month period and lagging investment levels. The party argues that while inflation rates may have slowed, the cumulative cost of living remains significantly higher, with consumer prices reportedly 7.74% higher from June 2024 to July 2026 than when the current government took office.

Furthermore, the opposition claims that the 3.1% GDP growth is insufficient to signal a developmental turning point, noting that growth is primarily driven by consumption rather than industrial activity or investment. They also pointed to a decrease in the number of industrial workers and a growing dependence on imports.
