Levica claims persons with disabilities face year-long delay in state payments
The political party Levica has reported that self-employed persons with disabilities in North Macedonia have been waiting for a year to receive owed state funds. The financial support system is designed to allow individuals with disabilities to pay their pension and health insurance contributions, which are then reimbursed through the Special Fund for Employment of Persons with Disabilities.
According to Levica, the last payment received by beneficiaries was for July 2025, which was not disbursed until January 2026. No new payments have been made since then, despite individuals continuing to work and meet their obligations.
In July 2026, the government allocated 300 million denars through a budget rebalance to address arrears from 2025. However, Levica claims that as of late August, these payments have still not been distributed. The party criticized the government for creating debt rather than providing timely funding for legal obligations.
