Levica criticizes housing policies in North Macedonia
The Levica political party has criticized the ruling DPMNE and SDSM parties, claiming their policies have forced young people in North Macedonia into a cycle of permanent renting or lifelong bank debt.
In June, housing lending in North Macedonia increased by 16.6% on an annual basis, a growth rate 3.5 percentage points higher than that of Croatia. Levica argues that instead of addressing housing through state policy, the government has left young citizens to navigate a market characterized by uncontrolled urban sprawl and rising real estate prices.
The party asserts that the inability to secure affordable housing or stable living conditions is a primary driver for youth emigration from the country.
